Global Market Opportunities
One of the keys to success for an electrical cord manufacturer is to create electrical designs that include IEC 60320 components for use worldwide. An accessory power system allows options that help simplify power supply connections, and open up opportunities for new markets.
At Interpower, we build global electrical designs by making our Accessory Power Strips (APS) compatible with IEC 60320 connectors, inlets, plug connectors and outlets for use in one system. This common electrical interface works with any country-specific cord set, which plugs into the mains power on one end and the APS on the other. Now multiple equipment can plug into the APS via IEC 60320 jumper cords.
Jumper cords include C13s/C14s, C15s/16s, C19s/C20s, and IEC 60320 appliance couplers such as Sheet E/Sheet F, Sheet G/Sheet H, and Sheet I/Sheet J. There are other Class I and Class II IEC appliance couplers also available.
Simplify Your Design Process
For example, instead of having to build four different electrical designs to export to four different countries, a company can build one design using IEC 60320 components while plugging only one country-specific cord set into a wall outlet while the other end plugs into an APS. This single design can be exported globally with cost-saving benefits.
Interpower’s Industry-Unique 1-Week Manufacturing Lead Times
Interpower offers a 1-week U.S. manufacturing lead times on non-stock Interpower products. We accomplish this by being flexible at various stations on the production floor. For example, if an urgent request comes in for 25 cord sets, but manufacturing is in the middle of a different 1,000-cord set order, the large order will be temporarily paused. Then there will be a mold-tool changeover and the 25-piece order will be processed. After it is completed, manufacturing will finish the larger order.
“It goes back to our people doing their jobs the right way and doing what they’re supposed to do,” said Mike Boyle, VP of Manufacturing and Logistics. “It’s working together—purchasing makes sure the raw materials are in-stock so manufacturing can build the cords. Then shipping makes sure the products are shipped out on time. It’s all about teamwork.”

Adding to its popular line of molded IEC 60320 appliance and interconnection couplers, Interpower announces the launch of its newly manufactured IEC 60320 rewirable Sheet E plug connector in a straight cable mount configuration initially offered in black. The Sheet E plug connector recently obtained Japanese PSE approval, joining other Interpower Sheet E plug connector safety agency approvals such as cULus, VDE, and CCC. |
American Made American Tested
All Interpower manufactured products are manufactured at two of our three Iowa locations where we select and manufacture the highest grades of raw materials which often exceed country-specific standards.
Our extruded cable and molded products such as cords, cord sets, plugs, sockets, and other components are continually tested. This is in accordance with Interpower’s product quality plan: hipot testing, continuity testing, ground testing, and inspections after each process.
